Pushkar Lake Rajasthan

Pushkar is a sacred Hindu place of pilgrimage at a distance of 17 km from Ajmer railway station in Rajasthan. Though being a famous place of worship for all Hindus of the World and from tourist point of view, yet Pushkar has no direct railway line even in post independent India known for peaceful and tranquil surroundings; foreign as well as domestic tourists rush Pushkar to wash off their sins and to enjoy the secluded nature of the lake and the orthodox life style of the people.

The Pushkar derives its name from Pushkar Lake, deduced from a legend that this lake was created from the petal of a flower that fell from the celestial palm of Brahma (The Creator) at this place and the lake took the formation. Brahma is one of the trinity Gods in Hindus. This holy lake finds mention in Hindu scriptures, like Ramayan, Mahabharat and Vaman Puran.Rishi Vishwameter, Pandhav brothers and Bakth Prahlad visited this side to offer prayers and to bathe in this lake. The only temple dedicated to Brahma through out India is located in Pushkar. In Bethore town near Kanpure (U.P) there is a sort of small temple called Brahma Koti which is worshipped by believers. Local legend says that it is the arrow shot by Brahma at the centre of earth. By appearance it is the shaft of an arrow stuck in the ground. Temples of Waraha and Apteshwar are in Pushkar. This obviously shows that Pushkar has great sanctity and religious significance. Embankment of this lake was carried out by Pritharas ruling clan in 7th century followed by raising of temples and ghats by various kings from time to time in reverence of the Lake. Mughals had made Pushkar a place of retreat, whenever they visited Ajmereshrief. The lake is circled by 52 ghats and about 400 temples. Pushkar town is dotted with two hillocks crowned with temples of Gyatri and Savitri Devies.

Here the socio, religious and economic activities revolves round the lakeside ghats and temples. Life, here is harmonious mix of spirituality and commerce. The calmness of the area, the vibrant colourful bazzars, the smiling innocent faces of people, attired in Rajasthani dresses, with huge coloured turbans capped on their heads fascinate foreigners tourists round the year. The main Sadar bazaar is spectacular promenade along the ghats of lake for every visitor. One can come across brisk movements of locals and tourists in and around the chain of shops. Shops are filled with varieties of items that are preferred by the tourists. Boiled milk in wide vessels with crest of cream over large gas stoves on the margin of walkway pulls pedestrians to have taste of hot glass of milk.

Reflection of descending Sun in evening hours is most watchful moment on the bank of Pushkar lake. The image formation of setting Sun on the surface of lake, which gets disturbed with the ripples caused by the evening breeze at times and fading light creates serene and soothing environment for viewers. Foreigners gather at the ghat on Parikrama Marg on eastern side on the steps to have the full view of the Nature. The silent atmosphere gets intercepted either by the drum beats synchronised with the dancing youth or by the flute tune played by some foreign lads on the bank. The local gypsy couple also ramble along the ghat singing locally composed ballads in praise of Rajput warriors on Iktara (single wire sitar) with the hope that the assembled tourists would pay them some coins for their evening meals. Their pitch of singing shrills across all the layers of air in the vicinity. Various birds including aquatic do not lag behind in twittering their melody when they return to their nestling within the circumference of the lake area at Sunset.

Crowds of devotees flock this lake in the month of Kartik-Purnima (Hindu calendar) in Oct-Nov months as auspicious period for a dip in lake. These months become enthralling with much anticipated annual cattle fair. Cattle fair is believed to be the largest in the world. Villagers in large numbers from different townships come down to Pushkar along with their camels, cattle, horses to sell or buy their livestock. Temporary tents and campsites are raised in open ground to accommodate the influx of villagers. Festive funfair atmosphere get generated here. Wrestling, horse race, camel races and mimicker skits are organised in open air amidst thunderous cheers from large audience, squatted on sandy soil to be part of this happiness. Villagers have their grub from the movable stalls which sell food varieties near the pavilion where the fair is conducted. Rajasthani fast coloured dresses worn by both genders looks amazing to the eyes, especially the damsels with silver coloured bracelets and anklets and covered faces wandering in and out of fair area.

The fair culminates on the night of full moon (Purnimasi) when all villagers throng the lake ghats for enmasse bath in the holy lake. At dusk hours these devotees lit clay lamps and are set afloat on a leaf in this lake. Holy lake looks like the twinkling starry dust of milkyway.

Now, the Rajasthan Govt. has taken up renovation of this Pushkar Lake from tourist point of view. The lake is desilated. Its bottom is being reconstructed with concrete cement and its embankments are raised with polished stone structures along the Ghats to make it more attractive and clean. All the water from the Puskar pond has been drained out except a small side rill which is being used by pilgrims for bath in holy water.

Lovers of The Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is one of the beautiful monuments in Agra, India, however, the lovers of the Taj Mahal are all over the world. The love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal is still alive in their hearts. When they express their views about the Taj Mahal one would become speechless. They love to visit the Taj Mahal frequently. During their tour to India they visit the Taj Mahal from the dawn till the sunset. The Taj Mahal becomes more beautiful when seen through their mind. Most of them are connected to Agra only through the Taj Mahal and some of them have settled in the city of the Taj Mahal.

So lets read what the lovers of the Taj Mahal  say about this beautiful monument.

“I used to visit Taj Mahal once every week for a year. That is my connection with Agra.”

My Scribbling on the great Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan’s Masterpiece

Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, has been attracting millions of tourists from all over the world and stirring and churning the imagination of people from all walks of life regardless of the cast, creed, religion and nationality such as poets, singers, musicians, dancers, artists, painters, novelists, photographers, business magnates, advertising giants, journalists, politicians, historians, builders, designers, and architects. Taj, the magnum opus of the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan continues to inspire the young and old, male and female, boy and girl, rich and poor, the illiterate and the learned as well as the masses and the intelligentia alike through ages.

Taj, the monument appearing as a standing ovation to the finest Moghul architecture on the banks of the River Yamuna and as an epitome of love, was designed and built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan to commemorate the passionate love he had for his late wife Mumtaj Mahal. Builders, architects and designers are at a loss to understand how was this architectural marvel, an example of contemporary talent, masterly precision and perfection in geometrical design, made without the building and earth-moving equipments of modern age. Poets and artists understand that no stone other than white marble used to build Taj could have symbolized the magnificence and majesty of platonic love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaj Mahal.

Taj an epic in stone, is a monumental alabaster of beauty, love, sympathy, remorse, perseverance, and strength of mankind, an emphatic manifestation of expertise in architectural design and construction. The white colour is a fusion of phantasmagoria of colours that nature provides and exhibits the remorse of an ardent lover who wants to show to the world the intensity of his love for his beloved wife and lover departed. Many a lover may have wanted to erect a memorabilia
such as “Taj” for their lovers or spouses, but Shah Jahan succeeded in translating his dreams to reality which put India on world map for a special reason, Love. To appreciate the beauty of Taj, one should view the monument directly at sunrise, sunset or in moonlight or its reflection in Yamuna as Shah Jahan himself was destined to have a glimpse of Taj only as a reflected image seen in Yamuna when he was jailed in Agra Fort by Aurangazeb, his son.

Taj defines love and beauty, redefines and immortalizes relations between lovers, especially husband and wife, and showcases the divinity in such relations. Romancing the stones Shah Jahan guaranteed that anybody viewing Taj bathed in golden rays of the sun at dawn and dusk or shining in the silver mist of moonlight will be inspired to love, which is the driving force and energizer for man. Love can work magic and it has erected one of the Seven Wonders of the World which turned into an UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal, an ode to the greatest and most powerful emotion and phenomenon on earth, Love!

Beauty of Sunderbani

There is an ancient temple known as Channi Parat Temple existing near the old deserted township, Channi Parat. It is a two storey temple, unique in its construction in the area and resembling the architecture of those temples which were constructed during Maharaja Partap Singh's time in Jammu and Kashmir.

In 1980, Sunderbani emerged as a new tehsil. Sunderbani comprises 42 villages and it is the smallest tehsil of district Rajouri in the area. Presently, the area of tehsil is 82401 acres and population is about 42000. Sunderbani is a beautiful town surrounded by the mountains and forests of pine trees.

During 1947-48 AD when the Indian army started operation for liberation of Rajouri they constructed a motorable road from Jammu towards Rajouri firstly via Seri and then via Thanda Pani. This high way was not touching the Channi Parat township but was passing through the village Bhajwal (present Sunderbani). In these circumstances, this township vanished and the original habitants left the idea of settling again in this township.

With the opening of new road from Jammu to Rajouri and Poonch during 1947-48 there was a need of a station between Rajouri and Jammu where the passengers could relax and (Bhajwal) present Sunderbani was the right choice for the purpose.

After 1947, Sunderbani remained the headquarter of tehsil Nowshera for some time, later on, the headquarter was shifted to Nowshera and Sunderbani became the Niabat Headquarter. Before 1947, this area was a part of Bhimber tehsil.

Before 1947, there was no place under the name of Sunderbani. Present Sunderbani area was known as 'Bhajwal Jagir'. The area of present township was un-inhabited and there was nothing except bushes. Only one haveli of Rai Ghulam Hussain, the Jagirdar of the area was existing on a mound which was known as Phulwari located on the upper side of present Sunderbani.

Rai Ghulam Hussain the Jagirdar of Bhajwal belonged to the royal family of Jaral Raja of Rajouri. Rai Ghulam Hussain was a very respectable person, even Maharaja Hari Singh was giving him full honour. Maharaja had invited him to Srinagar a number of times and kept him as a state guest. He was also given a seat in the Kashmir darbar by Maharaja Hari Singh. In response to the Maharaja's kind behaviour, Rai Ghulam Hussain was every time presenting a horse to his highness whenever he was visiting Srinagar. Maharja Hari Singh had also designated him as the Magistrate of Bhajwal jagir and he was empowered to fine upto Rs. 50/- apart from settling other normal cases. He was conducting courts/kachahries also in a open ground near present forest office Sunderbani.

After 1947 a number of migrants from Pak occupied Kashmir especially from southern Poonch area came here and constructed their huts at this very place which was vacant at that time and belonged to no body because Rai Ghulam Hussain had already left for Pakistan. On the other hand, when the Jammu-Poonch road was opened, this place became the central place between Rajouri and Jammu and a need arose for tea-stalls and shops for the passengers where fast food could be available. To meet this requirement, a local habitant Pt. Sita Ram constructed a small hut near present Bus Stand and started tea-stall as well as a grocery shop. Initially, this shop remained catering to the needs of passengers and the migrants who had settled in this hamlet. By this way, the other people also got encouraged and started their shops, dhabas, tea-stalls, dawakhanas etc and so a small township emerged. Then the buses started stopping at this very place for the refreshment of the passengers. At that time, there was a spring located near the township know as 'Sunderbani'. Therefore, Pt. Sita Ram and other habitants decided to call this place as Sunderbani were the present t township is existing and so this name started getting popular day by day. Later on, this name was adopted in the official records also and now no body knows about the original name of the area.

Before 1947, there was another township near Sunderbani under the name of Channi Parat which was 15kms from this township on the northern side. But now there are only ruins at site and the township has disappeared. It is said that this township was known as 'Prat'. This was a small township consisting of 75 houses and 45 shops mostly of Gold Smiths, Grocery, Shoe Makers etc and there was a Sarafa Bazar also. It was a Niabat Headquarter. A primary school, a Gurudwara, a mosque and a historic temple Channi Prat was existing in the township. This township was linked to Reasi with a Kachha road. Basically, the meaning of Parat is the mound of stone or a place which is having more stones than the clay.

The township was located on a mound and on elevated place from where during the night time, the moon was appearing in a very attractive appearance. Therefore, the people annexed the word 'Channi' with the name of 'Parat' and the township was known as 'Channi Parat'.

There was a great hustle bustle in this township before 1947 because this was the only township in between Jammu, Rajouri and Reasi where the traders and other passengers were halting for a night while going to Jammu, Reasi or Rajouri. By this way, this place was the camping station for the travelers also. But during the happening of 1947, the original habitants i.e. the business community of this township was threatened and attacked by the infiltrators, therefore, the habitants of the township were compelled to leave their native place and they migrated to the safer zones because this township was surrounded by the forests from all the sides and there was a security threat to the people during 1947-48.

There is an ancient temple known as Channi Parat Temple existing near the old deserted township Channi Parat. It is a two storey temple, unique in its construction in the area and resembling the architecture of those temples which were constructed during Maharaja Partap Singh's time in Jammu and Kashmir. It is said that a Sadhu had brought the design of this temple from Varanasi and with the help of the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, he constructed this temple near Channi Parat township. Presently, the temple is intact. The idols of Ram, Sita and Lakshman are in the temple. The walls of the temple are full of beautiful paintings of Krishna with Gopis apart from the Darbars of the Rajas. One painting of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is also available on the walls of the temple. The temple is about 15 kms from Sunderbani. Two melas are organized at this temple on 7th February and 7th July every year. People organize Havan, for the prosperity of the mankind. Presently, the temple is located on Solki road. It is existing in a solitary place because the old Channi Parat township has been deserted and there are only ruins at site at present.

organize holidays online

The most important part of the trip is its organization. And today is one more time from his routine on the Internet. It is only logical to start planning our trips on the Internet. Is real easy, and what difficulties we may encounter? I will try to describe the basic steps of organizing a trip:

1. Let's begin with where we want to go and at what price. Good to visit several sites for travel deals and tours. They have the advantage that they have published articles not only an agency but so many of you really have a choice of destinations and prices.

2. Once the destination is selected and found appropriate offer should gather more information about the destination. Here we must find an appropriate site that contains useful information about your destination as a tourist gateway. The more information you gather the better. It is advisable to search and glossary with local expressions and phrases if you do not speak the local language. It can be very useful, as in sightseeing, communication, shopping, and in case of danger and need for contact with local populations.

3. The next part is to plan your trip in detail day by day. So you can see the maximum number of interesting places and you can decide not to overload. There are sites that allow you to detailed planning. We encourage them to use them because it will help you most.

4. And of course after the return voyage to share their experiences with friends and relatives. What an easy way to do this by writing a short story about your adventures and publication of pictures in it.

I would advise you to use the website in the tourism sector, which offers all these services related trips and vacations in one place so you will more easily, and all your information will be in one place.

In conclusion I would say that organizing a trip today on the Internet is much easier than on paper because the Internet information is transmitted more easily from one place to another, and finally collect it remains just print it and enjoy your trip
